What is the matter with our education system?
Apparently with a third drop in ICT candidates at A level the UK may face skills shortages as a result of “uninspiring information technology school lessons.”
From world leader to laggard in a generation. Is this another industry where the UK becomes a consumer rather than an innovator?
“How come with 8 million economically inactive we can’t motivate and train people in the areas where we have skills gaps is beyond me” said Chris Slay of Skills Provision. “With kids in the education system I want their energies directed somewhere useful not just the collection of largely meaningless certificates”
We are sure that the average man in the street finds this totally baffling.
