October 2012 – Present: New Heat Development Ltd - London Independent Research & Development Engineer

Working closely with the company’s Technical Development Director, Mr Mark Collins and in collaboration with University Supervisor Professor John Zhou on Project “Green Technology Development Research” (confidential). I am responsible for:

September 2012: Pirsons Chemical Engineering (Pvt) Ltd - Multan

Process Engineer

Engaged as a Process Engineer, in a two week internship for Pirsons Chemical Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. During my time in the company, the senior Engineers were working on installation of a mineral water plant. I was assigned the task of:


  • Planning meetings, making equipment lists, making P&ID’S.
  • Developing better understanding of processes such as reverse osmosis, filtration with sand and activated carbon including addressing with any storage issues.
  • Practising HAZOP and HSE studies.
  • Working with safety and process departments.
  • Getting familiar with water treatment acquisition software called SCADA.

September 2008–2012: MAS Consultants - London

Trainee Chemical Engineer / Researcher

Worked as a part time Trainee Chemical Engineer and Researcher for MAS Consultants in London. MAS Consultants offers professional advice for industries on installing, designing and optimisation of chemical plants. My job responsibilities included:


  • Assistance on performing design calculations for cooling towers pumps, heat exchangers pressure drop, and water treatment plants.
  • Assistance on technical drawings for the local petrochemical industries process plant designs of waste water around London and Midlands according to NORSK and BSI regulations.
  • Developing understanding of grit removal, Biological Treatment and Tertiary Treatment.
  • Handling technical replies and managed calls to and from the clients regarding the design of equipment (cooling tower and heat exchanger) and catalogued progress of the work.
  • Helping in developing various projects for the company in petrochemical industries in the UK, through research and contacting them.

Skills


  • Engineering programming Skills: Able to use Chemical & Petroleum Engineering software like Aspen Hysys, Integrated Petroleum Modelling and acquainted with AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
  • Engineering skills: Optimisation, Heat exchanger network exchange system, P&ID, PFD, HAZOP and HSE studies. Additionally have analytical separation skills including three types of chromatographies, i.e, gas, liquid and ion and have knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.
  • Programming skills: Have a good hand on Matlab, C++ and Microsoft Visual Basic.
  • IT skills: Microsoft office package including Visio and have excellent internet research skills.
  • Record keeping and documentation of data collection.
  • Can speak three different languages.
