Specialist Database Administrator Needed, South Africa

Skills Provision is searching for a Specialist Database Administrator for a company in South Africa.

Responsible for influencing group strategy objectives, programs and ongoing support. The individual will be required to work closely with business, engineering and project delivery teams as well as with other regions.

• R 450,000 p/a

The Role

• Take responsibility for completing projects, focusing on global strategic objectives and develop plans
• Develop solutions and services alternatives to meet business and global requirements and prepare cost or benefit analyses, along with designs and models
• Manage live systems by continuously reviewing and improving existing systems management practices
• Define and advise on the modification and adoption of strategy and policies
• Engage with other areas sharing technical knowledge and expertise and resolving/developing resolution alternatives
• Analyse effectiveness of processes and systems in use in the Distributed Technologies team and make recommendations
• Stay abreast of industry and operational trends
• Take steps to design and deploy practices, procedures and knowledge into bank databases
• Expand and maintain networks with project stakeholders and role players
• Build and foster relationships with colleagues and business stakeholders and role players
• Consult with and attend to role players, stakeholders and customer service
• Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that impact the area are documented and understood
• Work with operational risk consultants and other risk champions

Requirements

• Three years’ experience in understanding of ITIL processes and associated concepts
• Two years’ experience within a project delivery team
• Two years’ experience working within a global team and with various international cultures
• Two years’ experience working with database security and controls in the Financial Sector
