A University in the north of England require a Director of Research and Innovation.

The Role

In line with the University’s ambitious strategic plan, the new Division for Research and Innovation will bring together enterprise and research to maximise the returns from research activity and commercialisation of research output both in scale and reputation, nationally and internationally. A programme of transformation to improve the University’s already strong performance in research and enterprise will be further developed and overseen by the new Director

Offers the opportunity for an ambitious individual to make a positive and measurable difference to the reputation and performance of the university in its research and enterprise activities.

Will report directly to the Registrar and work closely with the Pro Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation, to effectively cultivate a pervasive culture of research and successful entrepreneurship and innovation.

Will be responsible for driving maximum benefit from the commercialisation of IP and entrepreneurial activities, including spin out companies; licensing; consultancy; KTPs and the incubation of new businesses.

Requirements

You will be an experienced senior manager with outstanding communication and influencing skills, and a demonstrable ability to engage with and influence people at all levels and build key external commercial partnerships.

Your proactive, collaborative and creative approach will inspire innovation, excellence and entrepreneurship and help lead organisation-wide cultural change.

An experienced team leader, you have the knowledge and experience to support and build research and enterprise activities to meet challenging objectives, and to contribute to and advise on strategy and policy at the highest levels.
